This is the last in my series of sheep imagery symbolizing Our Lord Jesus.
This is an Icelandic sheep. crowned and majestically beautiful. Bleeding Heart flowers are His emblem in this image. It looks like a piece of fairy tale whimsy, light and peace, as we move into the Ember Months.
My first experience of sheep was in England when I was climbing Glastonbury Tor. I came face to face with one and felt how stolid and grounded she was as she stared right into my eyes as if to say "Who are you? At the top of the Tor, I watched the collie herding the herd far below. It was remarkable to see how the dog worked and the sheep gathered together, playing a game.
Painting sheep, I have learned a lot about them. They are quite impressive in their ability to survive anywhere, form the deserts of North Africa to the far north of Scotland and Iceland.
They can climb high on the rocks, and are calm and peaceful on the land. I could go on about these amazing creatures, but my purpose in painting t
